Countdown.

Well, Hello again.  Long time no see.  It's been about two months and I thought I'd give you a little update on my life.  With wedding meetings, wedding crafting, and wedding festivities, I have been one busy lady lately.  I've been hooked on Instagram... and its fun to look back and remember the days these were all taken.

So over the last two months I've been....
...dying Easter eggs with the family,
...putting my mom's button box to use,
...spending way too much on new clothes,
...hanging out with the beer bear,
 ...buying a new sofa,
 ...writing until my hand hurts,
...going just a little bit blonde,
 ...enjoying St. Patty's Day.
...loving the up and down Michigan weather on the patio,
 ...starting to run again,
 ...eating ice cream...right after running,
...checking things off my extremely long wedding to do list,
...trying to grow grass,
... and taking frame worthy engagement pictures with Heather at HMN photography, all this along with wedding showers, a bachelorette party, work, and a normal life!

Actually, I had a friend ask what my second job is going to be after the wedding is over.  I looked at her very confused. I don't want a second job, one full time job is enough for me.  She then explained that all the planning before getting married is like having a second job, so I would be feel like I needed a second job to fill all the extra time after we get married.  With that I agreed and promptly replied, "I'd like to make pillows and I'd really like to get back to blogging".  I haven't missed it too much these last two months because I've been staying extremely busy.  But about a week ago it hit me and I really would like to get back to it.  So here I am.  Still pre-wedding so it'll be a little hit and miss but as I countdown til my wedding day, you can count down the days until I'll be back blogging full time.

Clock starts now and we've both got 60 days left!!!

The Mess That's All Mine.

Sometimes I feel like my house is in a constant state of disarray. I realize with owning a home there will always be some sort of project going on, but some days I'm on overload. Today feels like one of those days. I'm diving into wedding projects and still have lots of unfinished business going on in just about every room of the house. As much as I enjoy every minute of the mess and the crafty things I do, sometimes for a second I wish I could close my eyes, tap my heels together, and have everything be magically complete. But, where's the fun in that? This is what fun looks like at my house right now...

Found the perfect panels for my office, have not found the perfect rod.
Just another day of wedding planning/sorting mason jars?
Actually accomplishing things for the wedding!  Only 5 more rounds of candle making to go.
I even have a huge futon in the dining room.  Temporarily of course, while I do trial furniture layouts in the next room over.

And even through all this madness, it's MY madness and I'm loving it. I can't even imagine what I would be doing if I had just rented an apartment and nothing needed to be done!? What projects get stacked up at your house? Laundry, dishes, DIY projects, etc? I like a happy medium around here, so I participate in all categories. :)

Sofa Search.

I'm on the quest for the perfect sofa.  As with everything else I've done in my home, it's not as easy as I thought it was going to be.  After sitting in what seemed like a thousand sofas and two date nights later I know only two things.  I still want a new sofa and I don't want to spend hundreds on a sofa that will be smushed and ugly looking in a few months.  So after our few days of searching this is what I've ended up with.  A floor plan, one measly little floor plan.
Okay, I take that back.  I just spent the last few minutes really deciding if I could rule out a sectional.  Turns out I can't, so I came out of this with not one, but two measly little floor plans!
I'll take this as a win for now and do some number crunching and more sofa sitting later. Anyone else have this dilemma figuring out what to put in your space? Why can I tell everyone else where their stuff should be, but can't make up my mind on my own space?

Note: The little puppy shown in the floor plan is non existent as of now.
But who's to say that won't change down the road either!? :)

Just Egging You On.

This iconic egg like frame has been making waves for decades.  Quite honestly, I don't see it calming down anytime soon either.  It's modern, clean, and uber eye pleasing.  A big thank you to Arne Jacobsen for designing this curvy seat back in 1958.  It even made it's way into a few McDonald's over seas.  What?  It sounds like we need our fast food classed up a bit over here.  Maybe that would make me eat there, cause we all know it's not gonna be the food bringing me in!

I've been using similar chairs in lots of my designs recently and have been surprised at how versatile it is.  I love it best in toned down neutral colors because the shape itself speaks volumes. However...
...a little pink never hurts!

Where would you put this modern classic?  I have a few places in mind but the corner of my living room is begging for a chair like this!

Happy Heart Day!

Happy Heart Day!  I have a slight heart obsession. Yes, I am fully aware but refuse to do anything about it.  Deal with it and spread the love today.  Here's a little itinerary of how my heart day is gonna go.

Wake up in my heart pajamas and eat some hearty cornflakes in one of my favorite West Elm heart bowls.  Are you noticing a trend yet?
Put on my heart sweater and ponder which pair of jeans I'm going to cut off and turn into heart printed shorts come summer time.

Search Etsy before work and determine how many heart prints I could get away with in one room.
Probably not gonna happen today but will brain bank this raining hearts idea for the future.
 Even wedding material maybe?!
Enjoy something sweet in the shape of a heart. As long as it's not chocolate, since I decided yesterday that's what I am giving up for Lent.  Bad timing on your part Heart Day. Geesh.
And of course I'll be dreaming of this hunk all day.  :) Wishing I could spend some more time with him today.  Lucky for me he makes everyday feel like Heart Day.  Love you!
And then its back to bed in my heart pajamas. <3

Fear Less, Live More.

We've been throwing the word fearless around a lot lately.  It's starting to sink in. :)

Friends and Free Stuff.

I have the best friends.  A few weeks ago I got a text that read, "Hey crafty lady.  Trashing the lockers.  Can you do something cool with them?".  Ummm... dream come true! Yes, of course I said YES!  It didn't even matter that I hadn't thought about where to put them.  I just knew I would find a use for them somewhere in my house.  Well problem solved, I've found them a spot here at home, they just need a color update.  I love it already and everything is symmetrical which always makes me  happy.
I could have done with gray and left it, but this putty color really isn't working in my favor.  So of course, I searched the internet for some inspiration.  It's amazing what's out there.
I do love all they bright, bold colors but I am loving the dark industrial look too.  I'm thinking it's going to have to wait until its warm out for me to spray em up outside, so I've got a bit of time to decide.
I love my collection of well loved things here at home.  These lockers may make the top of the list.  What's your favorite piece at home that you got for free?  Or do you just skip the scavenging and buy what you like when you see it?
