No bad habits.

It finally (minus the week of 80 weather in March) warmed up enough here to switch out the flannels on my bed for lighter summer sheets.  I haven't painted my room yet but I think I just need an update.  I go from flannel to lightweight and visually nothing changes because my duvet stays the same.  Solution: New bedding, simple and inexpensive.

I have come up with one new rule for shopping for this sort of thing though.  Buy coordinating items such as sheets, shams, blankets, etc.  Seems like a no-brainer, right?!  Not for most. Well, I don't know about you, but my bed is unmade half the time (okay 99 percent of the time) and it would look a whole lot nicer if my sheets matched the rest of the decor.  It would be like waking up to say, "This looks fab, there's no way I'm making my bed today!".  Notice a lot of pictures also show open unmade beds (there's even more in this post), see it's not a bad habit!

If you've already got a lot of color going on in your room, think about the switch to neutral in the summer, it's airy and refreshing.  It will go with anything and you can still add a touch of personality with a throw or pillow.  Whites, linens, and chambrays are a few great options for summer.

Have you already got this situation under control or are you in need of a summer refresher like me?
