Great Style vs. Your Style.

In flipping through Detroit Home magazine at the car dealership today, one thing hit me and hit me HARD.  I have got to stop comparing myself to other designers.  My design style is mine for a reason, and others can do their own thing.  I finally realized today that, yea, they may be great designers but I still look at a few of them and say what were they thinking!?  Nothing wrong with them, but I just don't see it because it's not my style.

Hence the importance of choosing a designer that's in line with what you are looking for in your own home.  Most designers can tailor their style to fit your expectations and needs, but can you imagine how amazing your space would be if you both just agreed on style to begin with!  This is where blogging gets important.  You see, although I'm not designing the majority of the pictures you see here on my blog, I only post pictures that are me and help describe my design style to you.  You'll see color and lots of it, traditional pieces mixed up, and character no matter what.

If we weren't supposed to each have our own way of doing things, we might as well be the same person.  And really that's no fun at all.  No offense but I certainly like who I am and don't want you to be me.  I want everyone else to be themselves too!

What defines YOU, your design style, your crazy sense of humor, or something else?
