Matte About You.

I'm not sure if a matte finish has ever been popular enough to say that it's making a comeback, but past life or not, it's taking center stage across the design board today.  In my opinion, it's all because of chalkboard paint.  Probably not the case, but it doesn't matter where it came from. We're just glad it's here, right?!  Although I believe this trend snowballed from chalkboard paint, you'll be surprised to see that I didn't include any of those pictures.  Let's see what other creative ways there are to use it.

I am in love with this matte/glossy striped wall, so sophisticated and glamorous.

What about spray painting anything to give it a porcelain look?  I'm in, but what to choose?!  Check out the DIY above made from Starbucks bottles.

I saw this picture and immediately thought of my dining room.  This is pretty much how it looks already, but none of my chairs are painted to match each other.  Why thank you Sarah Jessica Parker for the inspiration!

You can do matte in any color and I'm loving this bright color blocked entry.

You can't tell in this picture but I had to share it with you.  The reclaimed dresser turned vanity is a favorite of mine, but I always wondered what would happen to the wood after awhile.  This article said to use several coats of polyurethane to seal the top. And get this, then coat with a matte finish so the poly isn't so shiny.  Genius!

And if your not ready to paint your walls matte, check out the matte finishes in the nail polish aisle.  I've yet to try it, but it's on my list!  What are you matte about lately?
